Jumeirah Beach Guide: Where to stay, where to eat and what to do
Jumeirah Beach Residence is one of the most popular beach neighborhoods in Dubai, with dozens of restaurants, clubs and activities for travelers to partake in what feels undoubtedly western. We spent two nights in JBR, so if you’re heading there for a vacation, here’s everything you need to know!
Where to stay
There are dozens of hotels, ranging from brands you know and love like Marriott, Hilton and Sofitel that dot this neighborhood nestled just behind the Palm. If you’re looking for a great value, try the JA Ocean View Hotel with the perfect location facing Ain Dubai and the entire stretch of beach.
We were invited to stay at the JA Ocean View Hotel and it’s a fantastic choice, particularly if you book the club level. Club Level includes breakfast, afternoon tea and a complimentary cocktail hour every day. It’s a great choice if you’re looking to spend your days exploring Dubai, and want to grab a solid breakfast and cocktails upon your return.
Most of the JBR-facing properties have above-ground walkways that connect guests with the sprawling beachfront, so be sure to look for properties that have ocean views and an easy way to access the beach.
If you’re looking for easy access to the Ain Dubai and other unique features of the area, check out:

- Sheraton Jumeirah Beach ($$)
- Caesar’s Palace ($$$)
- Address Beach Resort ($$$)
Where to eat
JBR is overflowing with amazing cuisine from all over the world. Travelers don’t need to walk more than a couple steps on the boardwalk to find exactly what they’ve been craving. Here are some of our favorites:
This Italian restaurant from Brooklyn really feels like stepping into a trendy pizza place in New York and the food is phenomenal. Craft cocktails, fluffy thin crust pizza and melt-in-your-mouth burrata are just a few of the 5-star menu items that have us salivating to go back.
If you’re looking for a casual deli to grab a beach picnic, this is the place for you. Located in the lobby of the JA Ocean View Hotel, you can expect decadent paninis and salads. You can pre-order picnic baskets to take with you for a beachfront picnic.
Some other favorites not to miss:
- Tamoka – Latin cuisine in a gorgeous setting at the Ritz Dubai
- JB’s Gastropub – This long-time favorite has been serving up some of Dubai’s best pub food for a casual meal
- BLA BLA – if you’re looking for a beach club vibe, you’ll find it at BLA BLA. Casual bites in a (loud) hip atmosphere
- Chuan – This Chinese seafood restaurant serves up delicious Chinese cuisine in an elegant setting
- The Noodle House – JBR – The Noodle House serves up delicious street food that they deem “Soul Food”
What to do
JBR is famous for its lively nightlife, views of the Palm and world-famous Ain Dubai. A stay on Jumeirah Beach should include:
Beach day
JA Ocean View offers guests beach umbrellas and a beach bag to spend the day lounging out and people watching. Be sure to pack a picnic lunch and swim in the warm, calm bay.
Sunset from the Ain Dubai
Just like the London Eye and other famous observation wheels, the Ain Dubai allows for 360 degree views across the Palm and the Dubai skyline.
Enjoy the nightlife
Whether you just take a stroll along “The Walk”, or hit the world-famous nightclubs on JBR, the evening is when the neighborhood really gets packed. Grab a drink at one of the many hotel bars for epic views over the Ain Dubai and Dubai skyline.
Grab a bike
The car traffic can be pretty horrendous in JBR, so if you want to explore a bit further than just a short walk, grab one of the Byky bikes from the bike stations and explore on your own terms! The best part? You don’t have to return the bikes to a specific pick up location.
Spend the day on the water
There are dozens of water sports centers that offer parasailing, jetskis, jetpack experiences and more in the marina. This is a great way to experience the amazing views and neighborhood.
