South Lake Tahoe Down

We were invited to experience an evening with The Loft in South Lake Tahoe. The Loft is a restaurant and theater experience situated in the heart of South Lake, directly above the ice-skating rink. The Loft is home to a fabulous bar, restaurant and two magic shows. The whole experience was an unexpected and welcome attraction for our trip, so read on to find out what we loved!

The Location & Venue

The Loft’s central location is absolutely a huge draw for the attraction. The Loft is a quiet hideaway above the ice-skating rink and upon entering the space, you can’t even begin to imagine what’s in store.

The posh bar is complete with firepits indoors…yes, indoors! Couples and groups can lounge by the fire with a tasty drink and dessert after dinner at one of the high top tables or standard booths.

The restaurant and bar are dimly lit and really well decorated. There is a “rustic” and “modern” vibe to The Loft and you feel like you’re sitting in a chic bar in San Francisco.

Behind the restaurant is a small door leading to the small theatre made up of stadium seating. While small, the theatre does not feel squished or crammed in there.

After the “Magic After Dark” show, you exit the theatre to a deep house/chill DJ playing great music to entice you to stay. It was a blast to end the show on such a high note and continue the party in the bar.

Dining & Drinks

We ordered an assortment of food and loved all of it. The burrata and grilled cheese dippers were total standouts, especially since it was such a cold night. The scallops were also phenomenal.

The Loft offered a number of delicious cocktails and they all worked so well with the wintery weather outside. For example, we had a hot cider cocktail, complete with whipped cream and nutmeg.

I also ordered a few glasses of wine, all reasonably priced around $10.

We saw many couples with the Smores dessert, so obviously we saved room for that. The Smores dessert is super unique, because it’s served on a tray with a bowl of fire to roast your marshmallows.

We had dinner at 7, which was perfect timing for the 9pm show. I would not arrive later, as you may find yourself rushing.

Magic After Dark

There are two shows available at The Loft: Magic Fusion and Magic After Dark. Magic Fusion is described as the “family-friendly” show and it begins at 7pm. We opted for the more adult-friendly, Magic After Dark and I’m glad we did! The show was a comedy/magic show that boarded on the “naughty”. The Magician, Robert Hall, was hysterical and made sure everything had a blast. They involved the audience in everything, which was great in such a small theatre.

I’d recommend bringing a beverage into the show from the bar. You’re allowed – in fact- encouraged, to enjoy your beverages and have a good time.

If you’re a bit more conservative, I’d opt for the earlier showing as it does get a bit rowdy at the Magic After Dark show. Personally, I thought it was hilarious and I’d 100% see the show again.

Overall

Overall, I am ecstatic that I had the opportunity to experience this wonderful restaurant and show. The energy of the restaurant, great service and hilarious show make for a wonderful night out in Lake Tahoe. I can’t recommend the experience enough and can’t wait to return.
