Video: Anantara Kihavah Maldives Hotel Review and Room Tour
On our recent trip to the Maldives, we had the pleasure of staying at Anantara Kihavah. Anantara had been on our list for SO long, we were so happy to finally have the chance to experience it – and spoiler alert, it did not disappoint.
Anantara Kihavah is located in Baa Atoll, one of the most bio-diverse atolls in the Maldives, and one of our personal favorites. Baa Atoll is a UNESCO biosphere reserve that has allowed the sea life to flourish, including the nearby Hanifaru Bay, home to the largest Manta Ray feeding station in the world. The property is located a short, 40-minute seaplane ride from Male. Guests can also choose to take a domestic flight with a spead boat if the arrival or departure time is before sunrise or after sunset.

HOTEL REVIEW: ANANTARA KIHAVAH MALDIVES
Check out the full written review of the Anantara Kihavah in the Maldives!
Both overwater and beach villas offered spacious accommodations, large swimming pools and ample privacy. In neither room were we able to see other villas or people. Beach villas afford you the option to go straight into the shallow lagoon from your room, whereas, the water villas are already overwater, but will sometimes have a bit deeper water with beautiful corals to explore while snorkeling.
Overall, we absolutely fell in love with the Anantara Kihavah. The service, the lush & beautiful island and the incredibly unique guest experiences make this resort one of our top properties in the Maldives thus far. We cannot wait to return in the future to see what creative new experiences they’ve come up with since our last visit. If you’re considering this property, look no further- you won’t regret it.

Hi,
We have enjoyed watching your reviews of the various Maldive resorts and this one looks great however we are trying to find an adults only resort that has comparable features with particular focus on a great house reef for easy access snorkelling and great cuisine.
Be grateful on a few recommendations please.
Thanks

Hi Glenn! Thank you so much for reaching out. It’s very surprising, but there are not a lot of adults only properties in the Maldives yet – I believe more will come, but for now it’s somewhat limited. That being said, there are a few that are excellent. Milaidhoo, for example, is on our list of top resorts and is very comparable to Anantara in terms of service, house reef and excellent food. It’s still at the top of our list so definitely check that one out. We have not yet been to Komandoo, but that is supposed to be a great property for adults only and they do offer a good all inclusive plan as well. I’ve also heard Hurawalhi is a good adults only option with beautiful villas and good snorkeling, though I cannot confirm personally.
I hope this helps! Let us know anything else you need 🙂

Hi! I am
Between the Anantara Khihaveh and the Emerald resort and spa. I know the emerald is all inclusive but is the Anantara worth it to opt out of all inclusive? The rooms just seem so much better and there looks to be more activities at Anantara. Thanks
Voyager Guru
Hi Lisa! Thanks for your comment. Yes, you are absolutely correct that Anantara will have higher end rooms and amenities, but that does come at a large price difference. Emerald is a solid resort with a good all inclusive program and it’s amazing to be able to relax and not worry about a large bill at the end. I would say if you are budget conscience or are nervous about that aspect, it’s 100% worth going with Emerald as you will have a much better time without the worry of “should I order a second drink?” Anantara is an incredible resort and is on our Top 3, but just keep in mind that the best vacation is the one you can afford. I hope this helps!

Hi! Thanks so much for your amazing review videos. Me and my fiancé are planning our honeymoon to Maldives and read your 10 important item list, with room location as important. We wanted to book here at Anantara, but they only have over water villa (no sunset option available for our dates). Would you recommend still going here over emerald? And should we ask them to place us further out. We really can’t tell which is sunset and which is it, because there isn’t a description. We’ve asked the hotel, but it’s our honeymoon, so we want to make the best decision. Very much appreciate your advice. Thanks!

Hi April,Thanks so much for reaching out! And so glad that you saw that list :). I can totally understand how important booking the perfect room is for your honeymoon. what I can say is Emerald and Anantara are very different properties (mainly given that Anantara is not all inclusive and you will want to make sure you budget accordingly, versus Emerald is all inclusive with a variety of awesome inclusions). If you’re interested, we do have access to some great amenities/perks/deals for Anantara Kihavah and for Emerald )through Leading Hotels of the World) so if you want to get the best pricing and compare the options, I’m happy to look into it for you if you complete this quick form: https://forms.gle/UCuiMC2LWABcKXs39 or email me directly at team@voyagerguru.com– it’ll ask you for your dates/email address and priorities and I can get back to you asap with info 🙂
In terms of the room and side of the villas, the general rule of thumb is that if it doesn’t specifically say Sunset in the name of the room, it will be on the sunrise side. Making sure you get the best room is definitely something I can help with. Anantara rooms that are listed as “Over Water Pool Villa” will be on the sunrise side, which is also the quiet side. Sunset side is the predominant wind side so that is a consideration to have when booking in the Maldives- sunrise is usually a lot quieter and less windy.
